Everyone does some eating when they are not hungry, however if you have Bulimia this may be taking place regularly. It helps to develop an overall ‘awareness’ and find out the motivation behind what is leading you to eat when you are not hungry.

I'm not hungry but I still eat

Eating when you are not hungry can include snacking, eating meals and binging. This can take place anytime throughout the day. Most people occasionally eat when they are not hungry, this is quite normal, however if it is done to often then it may interfere with your natural hunger balance. There are many environmental factors that can trigger you to eat when you are not hungry and overtime this can interfere with your natural eating pattern.

Why do I eat when I am not hungry?

The reasons to why people eat when they are not hungry can vary from person to person. It can help to develop a clear understanding behind the motivation for this. Many people find themselves eating purely as a 'reaction' to a situation and not because they are actually physically hungry. They may be eating as a response to an emotion or simply the visual appearance of food, however by doing so are failing to pay attention to what there body is saying, therefore allowing their natural eating system to rust.

How do I stop non-hungry eating?

With a little time and practice you can regain your natural eating system back; even people with a 10 year build up of the rusty residue can get back on track. By taking time to ask yourself if you are really 'physically hungry' can help in many ways. It also helps to build a clear understanding of the reasons why you eat when you are not physically hungry.
