I was planning on creating a list of 101 things to do instead of a binging... then I thought perhaps as a community we could create this list together!
I'll start:
Paint a picture!

In the subject write No2, No3 etc... until we reach 101!!
When the list is up I will publish the article on the site to help others - submit as many things to do as you please!
To get onto my early notification list to my bulimia recovery ebook, simply enter your first name and email address in the spaces provided below:
If you have a medical condition which is affected by eating e.g. diabetes or you are a pregnant woman, you need to seek medical care.

Recovery is possible!
Try and postpone it at least for 10 minutes... within this 10 minutes write down everything you will feel after you have binged and purged... awful.. drained.. guilty.. sad etc... then after 10 minutes ask yourself if you want to really feel like that!
thats a great, I have tried so many things to avoid that feeling but, actually focusing on the negative is a good idea...thanks!!!

I'm going to try this next time. This is exactly what I should have done. I wish I would have thought of it an hour ago. Thanks and i"ll use it next time.
I'm definitely going to use this next time. I wish I would have seen this an hour ago before I ate 1/2 a bag of chips.
Listen to your favorite music or song, and if you can sing along to it really loud...that is if you are alone.
*Lea
take a bubble bath or shower
jessica
do something with your hands when you have the urge to purge, paint your nails, knit, crochet, sew
jessica
painting nails is a good one. you are doing something nice fot your self and reminding yourself of your feminity without thinking to much. Plus it stops you wanting to mess them up! Great to do after meals :)
No. 10: play an instrument if you do, if you don't, learn!
Decorate your room. Then decorate your binders.
pamper yourself! :)
Write a journal entry about something positive in your day.

go for a walk and think about thingsss!
1) Focus on the wonderful things about life, Better if done somewhere beautiful and surrounded by nature. 2) Be Postive in your thoughts (instead of "Damn I just purge" Think outside the box: but it was very small, the first time in weeks, I didnt really want to, I didnt do it again afterwards even when I really upset about it, overall I still did better than before.) 3) Make something to give to someone else (makes you focus on someone else, allows you to connect with someone and removes alot of the walls we set up around ourselves, and keeps you busy!) 4) Spend time with thoses you love (If today is the last day, you would want to be with your loved ones not food. So live each day as if it was the last and get the most out of life).

LET OUT YOUR INNER ROCKSTAR AND PLAY ROCKBAND!!
That is such a good idea! Rockband is such a good game! It can distract for a long time!! :)
Volunteer at a nursing home or a school...or go out looking to do good deeds for people
Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others.
Close your door, turn up the music loud and dance (to Brittney Speres-you know you love her songs) until you sweat!!
Lie down in your bed, close your eyes and search for one really good memory. Feel the good feeling you had at that moment, and keep it;-)
go on www.failblog.org and laugh!!!!
Hilarious!
This is one of my favorite things to do now instead of b/p.
Thanks! :)
This site is Hilarious!
too funny...thanks!!! Bookmark worthy for sure!!!
Play a computer/video game. Something that is fun, can hold your attention and uses you hands!
NO.26
Blast the stereo and sing your favorite song!
go to Target and shop the red tag discounts!! I know this is random but it really seems to help me and you can get some amazing deals especially on sundays!

Do some yoga. It raises self-awareness and self acceptance. ;)
Read the Twilight series...you won't want to take your eyes off of the page!
I love the Twilight series!
I'm dying for "New Moon" the movie to come out of November of this year :)
oh i have another one... paint your nails. it keeps your hands busy and makes you feel *pretty*
Make a playlist full of songs that always get you pumped up and play it whenever you feel like binging
This either works for you or doesn't.But some people swear by it and say that it has drastically changed their life. So I guess there is no harm in giving it go. When ever you feel cravings or a binge coming on try this. http://www.bulimiahelp.org/tools/binge-busting/thought-field-therapy-tft
clean out your garage!
sew a dress! if you cant sew, try to learn :)
make a pet rock- retro but fun!
Go for coffee (or out, anywhere) with a friend or sibling or whoever
Write a poem about how you are feeling
Usually drinking a herbal tea settles the urge for me....I do this after every meal...it settles and soothes me. I also make sure never to wear tight uncomfy clothes...it really makes a difference on my comfort level...comfy soft and beautiful clothes make me feel less likely to panic and need to rid of a meal I have just had.
**2bEfReE **
Call a friend to "babysit" you. Preferably one that knows about your anxious feelings!
~toots~
go to 43things.com and start a list of things you want to do in your lifetime.

Make a picture with this saying in it...you can change it up but put a lot of thought and feeling in it....It kind of helped me and everymorning you're supposed to look at it when you wake up and make the decision to love yourself.

A Gift To Myself.
Today is going to be a good day because I am in control.
I am beautiful inside and out.
People care about me and I care about myself.
I can ______ and I am proud of myself.
I don't need to lose weight because I am beautiful.
I love myself yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
My love is my gift to myself.
Do a Puzzle or Crosswords!
Listen to music and dance :)
Go clothes shopping. Even if I don't buy anything, seeing myself looking good in new clothes makes me feel good about myself. Afterward, when I'm feeling better and relaxed I treat myself to a coffee and magazine in a cafe.
play with your dog/cat.
I love animals, and they can take away a lot of negative feelings after just being around them =]
go online and play a game..or read a book tht your in to.=]
sleeep :) i'm always tired... and depression often comes from a lack of sleep!
47-Do your lipstick really nice. You won't want to mess it up by b&p!
48-Scrub a few toilettes. It might kill your appetite lol.
49-Drink a glass of ice cold water and take a few deep breaths.
50- Go for a walk :D. Think about a positive future, ed free!
**Alley**
Message a loved one (family or friend) and tell them how much you care
eg. "hey u big baboon i was at the supermarket in the toilet paper isle and i thought of the mexican night i had for my birthday :) good times love you much xo"
nay
Do a little spring cleaning! I always feel better cleaning out my closets/drawers/desk/etc.
Find a nice open space,
inside or outdoors,
get down on the ground
and STRETCH!
Stretch like you've never stretched before!
It doesn't even matter how or what you stretch,
just try not to hurt yourself.
You'll feel like a happy little puddle of goo afterward,
or you money back ;D
Write a note to someone (friend, therapist, yourself, etc.) telling them how you resisted the urge to purge and how proud you are of yourself. I always find it helps me to not only think of how bad I'll feel afterward if I do, but also how good I'll feel about myself if I manage to resist the temporary urge. Write about how you felt, what strategies you used to put it off, and how thankful you were after the fact that you didn't purge.
Get back in touch with your inner child, and remember all the happy, carefree days you had before stresses of adulthood and maybe even your ED - I like to make play dough from scratch, adding calming essential oils like lavender, vanilla, or verbena. I always end up playing with it for hours, it's a blast! It also stores well in the fridge for a few weeks :D
Another great activity that will also get you in touch with your inner child is to color! Markers, crayons, pencils, what have you. I like to go to the $1 store and stock up on coloring books - I'm so much better at staying between the lines now :D
Take a jog !
Hi! I'm mary, I am 15 years old an battling this horrific disease. Sometimes I worry about myself & how much longer I am going to live. I am so happy I found this website to help me. I hope I meet some inspiring people on here and I become recovered. It's
think and breath. whenever i do that, my mind snaps out of that trigger mode, and i realize how damn stupid im being.
seriously guys, try it.
59. call someone that you havent talked to for at least a month to catch up.
60. drown the food in water
61. do 20 sit ups
62 brush your teeth
63. eat a snack
sparkles
Drowning the food in water is a brilliant idea!! I often do that it really works :)
go on ebay and buy something totally rad instead of binge food :)
nay
Call someone. Even if you don't tell them what's wrong just being around someone or talking to someone can make you feel less alone and it makes you have to think of an excuse to leave. Or if they know about your problem, all you need to say is something simple like, "I need to be with someone"
do ur nails
67) go for a run
68) go for a drive
Keep a journal, write everything in it as often as you can, especially after b/p. When you feel like binging go back and read your previous journal entries. It will really calm down your urges and put you inside your own head and make you ask if this food is worth another guilty, sad, defeated, I-can't-believe-I-did-this-again!! entry. It will motivate you to be strong, control your urges, and finally write a positive entry about how happy you are that you got through the day. And hopefully there will be many more to come :)
70. Find someone in your house and chat to them
71. Surf the internet, come onto this site, find puzzles, games etc. online to keep your hands busy!
72. Think about how miserable a binge will make you feel...you will certainly feel worse than you do beforehand
73. Make a collage with old magazines/newspapers
As soon as the thought enters, a bingeing thought, the thought of a tastey food-anything...ignore it! do anything to not even think about it.as soon as you think run up and down the stairs as fast as you can until your out of breath-anything to not even think about eating.make sure you dont even get to the stage of "shall i?shall i not? just a bite?" just run without thought, even shoving your trainers on and running down the road. then go on here and DO any of the suggestions! maybe with backups too.
Do something to improve your self image like pluck your eyebrows or paint your nails. Something that takes concentration and the results should make you happy.
gee these really do seem like a good idea.
i set myself a task... everytime i felt the feeling i put a littleeffort into my tak. EG. i sanded down and painted an old box...each time i get the feeling i go paint another side...something that u know u can be proud of in the end
think of how wasteful it is when there are poor starving people around the world. get online and look at the photos. sometimes removing yourself from your problems brings things back into perspective.
nh
Write down on your brand new diary about your frustations.
The reading of the twilight saga works also for me.
Take a long shower. Getting naked definitely does not make me want to binge! ha ha
81. Knit, that definitely keeps you focused, and if you can't knit learn, its fun! And you can make your own cute hats and purses for a fraction of the cost.
82. Take your dog(s) for a walk or to the dog park.
I've been doing this a lot lately since its warm out again. They get exercise and I get to be entertained by them!
83. Clean the awful ledges around the baseboards and in your window sills, its pretty gross if you haven't done it in a while.
walk away from where you b/p and either do your homework or some sort of analytical thing like math that keeps your mind occupied.
or you can practice pointe like i do.
Go on Facebook. <3
"The truth is rarely pure and never simple." - Oscar Wilde.
Start collecting something.
Mine is movies. I've assembled a bunch of really great films in the last few months.
Go out and rent/buy a film you haven't seen before!
Carry a bottle of no-water-needed hand sanitizer.
It keeps your hands germ free, and it keeps you from purging. You'll figure it out after the first time you do it. It's like dipping your hand in pure alcohol.
do something nice for another person, think of a way to make it really great, think of all the details:)
Buy a schnook or a troll, you know those toys with the carzy hair... or even get out a barbie. When I want to binge or purge I sit down with my schnook and do it's hair in all different styles and take photos. If I make it through the week without binging or purging I am going to reward myself by buying another one! I'm going to collect them all
** www.myspace.com/jennalyce - Some of my music and art **
GO TO STARBUCKS!!! That soothing music and their awesome teas/coffees calm me down when I am anxious to give in.
Go through your closet and play dress up!
its great excuse to try on everything you own, maybe even decide to donate some clothes to charity!
Giving things away always makes me feel better.
ART
make clothes by recycling old ones. Then do some more ART, then read a book, then write about your day reading and doing art then do some more art.
Sketch the entire world around you playing with different materials and methods.
mmmmmmmmmmm......art, scrummier and yummier than ANY binge food EVER!
LOve love love,
Virginia Apple x
go to a waterfall, turn on the shower, stand close to a machine that makes alot of sound, stand by the highway - and sing!
put on comfy clothes/pajamas, make a pot of herbal tea and climb into bed. I find this helps because most of my binges start off being "comfort eating" that gets out of control.
Be mindul!
Leaves on a Stream
Imagine you are sitting or standing in the middle of a stream.
The water is flowing away in front of you.
Notice if there is any sound from the running water.
Notice if there are any trees, etc. on the banks of the stream.
Now see leaves floating down the stream away from you.
They can be any shape, color, or size.
As the negative thoughts come into your mind, be aware of what the thought
is, and then place it on a leaf.
Now watch it float away down the stream.
Do this with each thought as you notice it and for as long you like until
you feel better.
As you acknowledge each of your thoughts, you do not need to hang on to
them. There is no need to become attached to the thought.
Just acknowledge it and then place it on a leaf.
By watching it float away, it loses its hold on you and its intensity.
By paying attention to the here and now by observing one's thoughts
without being critical or judgmental is what many people call Mindfulness.
This term describes observing your thoughts, and by doing so, you are no
longer your thoughts. You can notice the thought and make a choice to
realize that it is separate from you
