Intuitive Eating

Intuitive eating is using your body's natural signals that let you know when to eat, help you decide what to eat, help to inform you when you are full and trigger feelings of satisfaction.

Your body has been very so cleverly developed over hundreds of years of evolution to survive; your inbuilt survival instincts and intuition are incredibly powerful and will put up a strong fight with anything that stands in its way.

In the Western society today there is less need for the use of our survival instincts compared to when great ancestors lived.

Our ancestors had to survive periods of famine and drought and during these times their survival instinct mode was triggered. The hunger trigger does what it does best and puts food as a central focus; the urge to seek food is strong.

It is probably fair to say that most of our ancestors did not know the difference between carbohydrates and protein. They did not have manuals of what to eat and what not to eat. In fact they relied on their intuition determine what to eat, when to eat, and when they had enough food.

Our instincts and intuition are not as fine tuned as they were in the day of our ancestors, this is because luckily in our society we don't normally have periods of famine and don't need to relay on our survival instincts as much. Food is so readily available, we are surrounding by choice to every last detail.

Because of this our intuition has been left to rust, another reason for this is because many people have forgot that ‘intuition’ exists. Many believe they have developed wiser knowledge to what there body needs.
