Duration: A few minutes each night
Other requirements: A success journal

Thinking positive not only makes you happier and healthier but has also been proven to be a very effective aid in the recovery from bulimia.

We can all learn to think positive but how good are we at spotting all the positive things that surround us in our daily lives? Many of us go through life in a state of half unaware, missing of all the things we should be truly grateful for. It is often the case that we don't appreciate how good something is until its gone.

The success journal will train your brain to filter for the positive and to start to notice the really wonderful things in your life.

The Success Journal

Each night before you fall asleep write down two or more good things about your day. It can be anything, the sun was shining when you woke up, your had a productive day at work, you had a good nights sleep or a you got a smile from a stranger. Its that easy.

Do this every night and after 1 month you will have a list of around 100 things you enjoy in your daily life. By this stage your brain will have been re-trained to notice all the positive things that surround you. As you develop your "attitude for gratitude" you will notice an increased optimism and a renewed pleasure for life

Hints and tips

  • Do this before you go to sleep at night. At this time you conscious mind is preparing to go to sleep and your subconscious mind (the part of your mind responsible for automatic thoughts and behaviors) is very open to suggestion.
  • The success journal is a great habit to get into. It only takes a few minutes each day and you can easily incorporate it into your "going to bed" routine.
  • Don't be fooled at how simple this is. The success journal can be a real powerhouse when used properly.
  • Don't just think about the positive things that happened, it is important to write them down!
  • Write down a minimum of two good things daily

Summary
